Angels Abound

"I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free. " ~Michelangelo

Can you imagine that? My humble mixed media angel painting will be staying with me as I forgot to give her arms :] I had some old canvases that I covered with papers and painted and collaged over and then antiqued a bit.

wow, I can't believe your opening quote--I've ALWAYS loved that quote, it really does something inside when I read it...I get tingles! It's definitely one of my favorite quotes.
I found your blog through Anne over at Gaal Creative, and I'm glad I did! What talent you have :) just thought I'd say hi!

Hi, Kim! This is really lovely. I like the inclusion of the musical papers. And I love the shape of your angel's wings ... they look like the scroll work from a violin or harp or some other lovely lyrical instrument that just fits with the whole theme. :-)

BRAVO on picking a quote that totally and completely draws you in! I think I only read the first four words and just KNEW you were quoting Michelangelo! He was such a genius...

I'm loving your new painting; your angels always make me smile. (As does your mention of "old" canvases. I have a stack of paintings that just didn't speak to me, so I have been recycling them and breathing new life into them. :)

Hope you had a lovely weekend and that the week ahead is even lovelier!

Hi, Kim! By the way, I don't think that your angel has suffered any from lack of arms. I guess I assumed the arms were there, just hidden in drapey angelic clothing. Or maybe angels don't need arms, since they have wings. I love this piece, arms or no ... I wouldn't have even noticed if you didn't point it out. The angel is just gorgeous! :-)
